The RAAF Welfare Trust Fund was established under the Services Trust Funds Act 1947 and is administered in the interests of serving and ex-serving members of the RAAF and their dependants. The Fund is managed by Canberra based Trustees who are supported by a network of regional representatives, usually RAAF Chaplains, located at each RAAF Base. The RWTF currently provides assistance to eligible persons by way of low cost loans and offers a low cost insurance scheme.
The Fund also administers a Base Welfare Grants Scheme. The purpose of the scheme is to provide grants of funds to bases to support the welfare and amenity available to Air Force personnel and their dependants and, incidentally, any other Service or Australian Public Service personnel who may be co-located with the Air Force members. During 2014-15 $73,365 was approved for distribution to bases across Australia.
